Argillite First Man Rattle Pendant by Darrell White

$3,300.00

This First Man Pendant carved in Argillite by the Haida Native Artist Darrell White is an interpretation of the story about the creation of the Haida People. The story explains how Raven motivated man to leave the safe haven of the clam shell and establish the Haida Nation on Haida Gwaii. You can still see the "angst" in the eye's of the Haida man, before Raven can coax him out of the shell. This amazing pendant is hollowed out and contains some jade pebbles, which has also turned it into a quiet rattle. The pendant has silver inlayed around the outside rims of the clam shell. It has as a total of 21 inlays of Abalone, Catlinite or Pipe Stone, Silver as well as Mastadon Ivory. The display base is made out of Yew Wood. Including the display base the pendant is 3 inches or close to 8 centimeters long without the silver bail, up to 2 inches or 5 centimeters wide and 1 1/2 inches or close to 4 centimeters deep. Without the base the pendant is 2 1/8 inches or 5 1/2 centimeters long without the silver bail and 1 3/8 inches or 3 1/2 centimeters wide and deep. The pendant without the stand weighs close to 2 ounces or 56 grams.

The price includes shipping to the USA and Canada.
