In Coast Salish Culture the bear symbol is a thoughtful creature, independent and apparently distant, has little need for fellowship and is self-contained and strong-willed. The bear also represents the fulfillment of bodily needs and that flesh is the house of the spirit. Furthermore, It signifies vitality and courage.
