Marvin Tallio
Marvin Tallio was born in 1966 in Bella Bella, British Columbia. Marvin is part of the Bella Coola Nation (also known as Nuxalk) and takes the Killerwhale, Grizzly Bear and Eagle as his family crests.
Marvin began carving small plaques as a youngster in 1973 at the age of 7. Marven’s father, Glen Tallio, an accomplished mask carver, has passed on this age-old tradition to young Marvin. In 1985, while attending the Vancouver Native Education Centre, Marvin studied Jewellery design under West Coast master Derek Wilson.
Marvin is versed in all mediums of design including original paintings, printmaking, silver and gold design and wood carving. With the enhancement of his design knowledge and exploring a variety of mediums. His artworks have gained international reputation. Marvin’s work has found an appreciative audience and can be found in collections around the world.
