Erich Glendale
Erich Glendale was born in Campbell River, BC in 1972 and is a member of the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation. At an early age Erich was captivated by traditional Northwest Coast art. In the 1990’s he moved to Nanaimo, BC and began carving.
Erich is always seeking opportunities to learn and grow as an artist. He enjoys studying and researching traditional Kwakwaka’wakw art forms, as well as art forms from other Nations, as inspiration for his own work. In 2006 he began studying silver and gold jewelry carving with Nuu-chah-nulth artist Gordon Dick. Through ongoing study and working with other artists, Erich continues to develop his knowledge and skills, exploring new techniques within his unique style. His goal is to continually welcome new challenges and seek creative growth.
“If I am certain of the outcome then I am standing still. If I am uncertain of the outcome I am moving forward. When I am standing still I am bored. When I am moving forward I am exhilarated. This is the emotional breakdown of replicating and creating original art.” - Erich Glendale
Erich currently lives and works in Port Alberni, BC
