Eugene Isaac
Eugene Isaac was born on March 22nd, 1958 in Alert Bay and is an accomplished Kwakwaka'wakw carver, painter and artist. At fifteen, Eugene studied under the master Kwakwaka’wakw carver Beau Dick, who taught art at the Alert Bay High School. Many years later, he took a carving course in 1994 taught by Wayne Alfred, another renowned artist from Alert Bay.
Eugene worked on three exhibits for Expo '86 and on a 40-foot totem pole for Stanley Park. Eugene Isaac is inspired and influenced by Willie Seaweed, Charlie James, Mungo Martin, Bob Harris, Andy Beans, Doug Cranmer, Wayne Alfred, and Beau Dick.
