Tony Greene
Tony Greene is a Haida artist from the Naa Saagaas X̲aaydaG̲aay Clan. His mother Roberta Olson was an artist, and at an early age Tony began cultivating his own artistic gifts through drawing cartoons and cars. In his teenage years he moved from Vancouver Island back to his hometown of Skidegate in Haida Gwaii, and there he found his passion for creating traditional Haida Art. From 1989-1990 he apprenticed with master carver and renowned contemporary visual artist Robert Davidson. In 2000 Tony also apprenticed with well-known jewelry carver James “Bussy” McGuire. He currently lives and works in Skidegate, Haida Gwaii.
