These Eagle Earrings have been hand-carved by Haida artist Amy Edgars. The earrings have been carved in argillite and feature 2 abalone inlays in total.
The Native Eagle Symbol is known as “The master of skies” and is a symbol of great significance. He is believed to be the creature with the closest relationship with the creator.
Argillite is a very rare medium - there is only one argillite quarry in Canada, and it is in Haida Gwaii. The Haida own the exclusive rights to use argillite and it has become a sculptural tradition among Haida people.

Each earring measures approximately 3/4 inch or 2 centimeters wide, 5/8 inch or 1 3/4 centimeters high, and about 1/8 inch or 1/2 centimeter thick.
