This Salmon Pendant has been hand-carved by Haida artist Amy Edgars. The Pendant has been carved in argillite and features 2 abalone inlays.

The Native Salmon Symbol symbolizes abundance, fertility, prosperity and renewal. For thousands of years, Salmon have been the primary food source for Northwest Coast Native Americans and are highly respected.

Argillite is a very rare medium - there is only one argillite quarry in Canada, and it is in Haida Gwaii. The Haida own the exclusive rights to use argillite and it has become a sculptural tradition among Haida people.

The pendant measures approximately 5/8 inch or 1 1/2 centimeters wide, 1 3/4 inches or 4 1/2 centimeters high, and nearly 1/4 inch or 3/4 centimeter thick.
