John Livingston Seal Hunter and Grey Whale Artist Proof Print edition of 20.
Seal Hunter and Grey Whale
“The seal hunter is shown in a two-man hunting canoe using the extremely pointed paddle for sealing, because they don’t splash when approaching a seal. The grey whale is ‘breaching’ in front of the canoe and the hunter holds his paddle skyward while he sings for the whale. The wolf figure shown on the body of the whale signifies the whale’s ability to transform to a wolf figure. Part of the inspiration for this design was my late friend, Art Thompson’s design.” –John Livingston
