Warrior Mask by Tahltan, Tlingit, and Nisga’a artist Ken McNeil.
This finely finished Portrait Mask is hand-carved in alder, painted in red and black acrylic, and finished with human hair. A Killer whale design features prominently on the forehead of the warrior.
Without the hair, the mask is about 11 inches or 28 cm in height, 9 inches or 23 cm in width, and about 6 1/2 inches or 16 cm deep. With the hair, the mask is about 15 inches or 38 cm in length. This mask was carved in 1989 and is in excellent condition.
The final image shows the mask featured in the book "Spirit Faces: Contemporary Masks of the Northwest Coast" by Gary Wyatt, published in 1994.
