This Hawk Man Mask is carved in red cedar by Russell Tate from the Ditidaht First Nation on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. The mask is painted in red, green, white and black acrylic and is accented with cedar bark and feathers. Without the cedar bark and feathers, this mask is about 8 inches or 21 centimeters high, 6 1/2 inches or 16 centimeters wide and about 6 1/2 inches or 16 centimeters deep. With the cedar bark and feathers, the mask is about 20 1/2 inches or 52 cm high and 14 inches or 36 centimeters wide.
