Sea Serpent Moon mask

This Supernatural Moon Mask features two Sea Serpents and a Canoe. The Sea Serpent symbolises protection, incredible power and revival, it is one of the most powerful crests of the Northwest Coast People. The Sisiutl or Sea Serpent is a supernatural Sea Serpent that possesses powerful shape shifting abilities.  Not only can the Sisiutl change shape into a human or animal, it can also change its shape into a self propelled canoe. Warriors often wore headbands, belts or other accessories with images of the Sisiutl to protect them from harm. Sea Serpents are painted on the sides of canoes and painted or carved in entranceways to protect people from evil spirits. This Moon Mask is carved in red and yellow cedar wood by Patrick Amos, a Native Artist from the Nuu-chah-nulth Nation. The mask features cedar bark and acrylic paint, some of the black paint includes an additive that makes the paint sparkle. The mask is about 15 inches or 38 centimeters long and wide and close to 2 inches deep. The price includes shipping to the USA and Canada.
