This Owl Mask is hand-carved in red cedar by Master Carver Bill Henderson from the Kwakwaka´wakw Nation. The mask is painted in white, black, yellow, and red acrylic, and features 3 cedar bark bundles on the sides and top of the mask.
The Owl Symbol represents a bird of wisdom and intuition, magic and prophecy. Owls are often seen as messengers.

The mask measures approximately 15 inches or 38 centimeters high, 13 inches or 33 centimeters wide, and 9 1/2 inches or 24 centimeters deep.

This piece is part of our exhibition “Looking After a Legacy: Through the Grains of Cedar” which opens on September 3rd 2022.
