Wren Mask

Regular price $2,730.00 CAD

This Wren Mask was hand-carved by Namgis artist Shawn Karpes. It has been carved from Alder wood and painted in black, red, and yellow acrylic. It has black feathers and cedar bark.

In Kwakwaka'wakw culture, the Wren often depicted as a half-human, half-bird figure, symbolizes a powerful spiritual being with connections to the human and spirit worlds. The Wren is known for its agility, speed, and ability to navigate between different realms, mirroring the Kwakwaka'wakw's own connection to both the natural and supernatural.

The mask, including the cedar bark measures approximately 23 inches or 58 centimeters high by 18 inches or 46 centimeters wide.

The mask without the cedar bark measures approximately 9 1/2 inches or 24 centimeters high, by 7 1/2 inches or 19 centimeters wide, and 5 inches or 13 centimeters deep.
