Claude Davidson
Claude Davidson was a Haida artist born in 1924 in Old Massett, Haida Gwaii. He served as the Chief of the Village of Dadens on Langara Island, Haida Gwaii. He was the Grandson of renowned Haida artist Charles Edenshaw, and the son of cultural leader and canoe builder, Robert Davidson Sr. He was also the Father of acclaimed artists Robert Davision and Reg Davidson. Claude began carving later in life, during the 1950’s, under the support of his father. He began carving in cedar, but quickly turned to argillite.
Claude passed away in 1991.
