Mitch Adams
Mitch Adams is a Haida/Tsimshian artist known for his wood carving, engraving, and limited-edition prints. Born in 1961 in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Mitch was introduced to Northwest Coast design and engraving at a young age by his father, renowned Haida jeweller and carver Ivan Adams.
Although he began learning traditional design as a child, Mitch did not begin creating artwork regularly until 2005. Since then, he has developed his skills as a wood carver and engraver and has created a growing body of limited-edition prints. In 2010, he moved to Terrace, British Columbia, to study at the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art, where he expanded his knowledge of Northwest Coast design and carving under the guidance of celebrated artists Stan Bevan, Dempsey Bob, and Ken McNeil.
Mitch continues to develop his artistic practice through a strong connection to Northwest Coast design traditions. His Moon Cycle design was selected for use by the Terrace Literacy Program in 2010.
