Fred Davis
Haida artist Fred Davis (1955-2014) was one of the most talented and innovative contemporary carvers of his generation. He was born in Masset, Haida Gwaii, BC, a descendant of the Haida Raven Clan from Skedans, a community known for its rich artistic heritage. Fred carved masks, poles, rattles, drums, argillite, mastodon ivory, and created intricate gold and silver jewelry, but is perhaps best known for his miniature masterpieces.
