Pacific Northwest Coast Native Carvings and Sculptures are mainly made in wood, argillite, silver, gold, bronze, stone, ivory and glass. Most of the carvings and sculptures at Spirits of the West Coast are inspired by Haida and Kwakwaka'wakw or Kwakiutl traditions. The Haida argillite carvings and sculptures offered are all created by First Nations artists from the Haida Nation. Most of these Haida artists live and work on Haida Gwaii (formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands) today. There have been many monumental sculptures created in bronze and cedarwood by West Coast Native Artists (such as Bill Reid) which have been purchased for display internationally.
