Garner Moody

Although Garner was born in Prince Rupert, he was raised in Skidegate by his adoptive parents Lloyd and Muriel Moody, on Haida Gwaii. He is the nephew of argillite carver, Rufus Moody. Garner carved his first piece of argillite when he was 15 years old. He moved to Vancouver in 1987 and was invited to help Bill Reid work on his full-scale 'Lootaas' canoe. While he was in Vancouver, Garner leaned a great deal about Haida design and argillite carving from Nelson Cross, Alfie Collinson, Ron Wilson (Gitsgah) and Clayton Gladstone. Garner currently lives on Haida Gwaii
