Four Frogs Limited Edition Print

Regular price $490.00 CAD

Four Frogs is an unframed serigraph from a limited edition print series of only 88. The print was made in 2014 by Roy Henry Vickers from the Tsimshian Nation. The print is signed, numbered, and titled in original by the artist.

The image is 19 inches or 48 centimeters high and 19 inches or 48 centimeters wide. The size of the print itself is 22 inches or 56 centimeters high and 22 inches or 56 centimeters wide.

Every year after the frost leaves the ground the frogs begin to appear. In our valley of the Skeena River the little and big frogs can be found under leaves, any old tarps or canvas that was left outside and covered by the snows of winter will shelter frogs. Many children love to find them and hold them for a while.

The frog is a powerful symbol of transformation for the Gitxsan people of the Skeena valley and has been a clan crest for thousands of years. There are dances and songs that belong to those people of the frog clan. One day I was inspired by some people of the frog clan to create this design for a large drum. The drum is in the process of creation. In the meantime through the magic of hand-pulled screened prints I get to share this design I call, Many Frogs.

The colours may vary slightly from how they appear on screen.
