This Haida Eagle Argillite Pole is hand-carved by Haida carver Denny Dixon. The pole is in the form of an eagle and is carved in a strong angular style with a sharp beak, pronounced head feathers, and wings.

The Eagle Symbol is known as “The master of skies” and is a symbol of great significance. He is believed to be the creature with the closest relationship with the creator. Soaring to great heights, he can travel between the physical and the spiritual world. He is said to be a messenger to the creator.

The carving is over 5 1/2 inches high, 2 inches deep and 1 1/2 inches wide.

This argillite pole was carved in February 1987 and has been signed and dated by the artist. The pole is in very good condition.
