This beautiful Raven and Frog Mask is carved in yellow cedar and accented in the traditional Haida colours of red, green and black by Master Carver Garner Moody from the Haida Nation.
Mischievous and curious, the Raven plays many very important roles in Pacific Northwest Coast Culture. For some he symbolizes creation, transformation, knowledge, prestige as well as the complexity of nature and the subtlety of truth. Frogs symbolizes wealth and abundance.The Haida also carved frogs on their house posts in the belief that the frogs would prevent the posts from falling down.
