This Haida Orca Pendant is carved in argillite, with three mother of pearl inlays on the tail fin, blowhole and dorsal fin, one abalone inlay in the eye, one catlinite or pipestone inlay on the side fin, and 8 mastodon Ivory onlays as the teeth. The bail is cast out of silver. It is carved by Darrell White from the Haida Nation. 

The Orca or Killer Whale symbolizes family, romance, longevity, harmony, travel, community and protection. He is said to protect those who travel away from home, and to lead them back when the time comes. Orcas will often stay their whole life with the same pod and raise each calf with care.

This pendant is without the silver bail about 2 3/8 inches or 6 centimeters long, 1 5/8 inch or over 4 centimeters wide, and up to 1/2 an inch or 1 1/4 centimeters thick. It weighs close to 1 ounce or 28 grams. The leather necklace is not included,
