Blue Heron IV is a Hand-Pulled Serigraph on silver matte board from an Artist Proof Edition of 8 from 2005, signed, titled, and numbered in original by April White.
"Great Blue Heron, a member of the Ardeidae Clan is easily recognizable by his long slender blue-grey form. Standing nearly motionless though gliding gracefully forward, Hlguu iiwans' silhouette, heightened by evening's falling light, is an intimate apparition as he silently stalks in the shallows. Heron's eyes are intent on divining through shimmer of reflected light and from every life inspired ripple, the signal that will trigger a swift snatch from the water's keep. The proclamation of success appears as meals of eels sliding down paralleling sinuous lines. Sheltering under the parent's wing, naked hatchling is seen, satisfied with a full belly. This is the reward for a twenty to thirty-mile flight to forage, sustaining new life. Paramount is another generation to teach, for in Haida mythology, the Heron appears as an industrious old man, Stlanlaas, who is good with his hands and a master at carpentry and art. - April White
