This Man in Canoe Mask is carved in red cedar by Russell Tate from the Ditidaht First Nation on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. The mask is painted in blue and black acrylic and features abalone on the eyes and black hair.
This mask excluding hair is about 10 1/2 inches or 26 3/4 centimeters high, 7 inches or 17 3/4 centimeters wide, and about 6 1/2 inches or 16 1/2 centimeters deep.
Including the hair, the mask measures approximately 24 inches or 61 centimeters high, 11 inches or 28 centimeters wide, and 6 1/2 inches or 16 1/2 centimeters deep.
